A Bunch of Louvres

That's the Louvre.

I was sitting in front of one of those Triumph de somethings, I think. I wouldn't know. Friends weren't interested in learning about the area. But nonetheless, that's where we are. Louvre was gorgeous.

Had a great afternoon and just relaxing with some iced tea and some old friends and new.

Pictures don't tell you that I'm at a crossroads in my life. France would have been the 6th distinct country that I would have visited this year alone. Unsure about where to go or what to do with my life. Not too far away from taking radical action either.

iPhone 4 in London

Here is the Apple Store on Regent Street in London. This was July 29th. The iPhone 4 has been out for a while now.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

Glare at the complete inefficiency of the Apple Store. These people are not lining in up to BUY an iPhone. They've preordered it. They're lining up to buy something they've already decided.

You would think that these idiots would have something easy to set up wouldn't you? Nope. Completely not.

Anyways, my roommate and I decided not to be idiots. We went to Soho and went for some drinks and yakitori afterwards.

Drumming on the Island

We started our island adventure learning to play the djembe, which is a drum that is very popular in west Africa. Hitting the middle of the drum creates a low sound and hitting the edge of the drum creates a high sound. The lesson involved us copying the rhythms the teacher created and we ended the lesson with a song: "I like peanut butter, I like jam" which translates to [low low highhighhighhigh low low high] on the drums. Our palms were stinging by the end of the 10 minute lesson. I have new respect for drummers now.
